Day 1 – Los Angeles › Barstow (≈ 130 miles)

Pick up the motorhome and drive to Barstow, a small town once crossed by the Old Spanish Trail and Route 66, known for its outlet stores. Suggested overnight: Barstow KOA. Take the shuttle to Calico, an old silver-mining ghost town.

Day 2 – Barstow › Las Vegas (≈ 140 miles)

About two hours across the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas. Suggested overnight: Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. Walk the Strip, see the themed hotels and catch a show at night.

Day 3 – Las Vegas › Hoover Dam › Kingman (≈ 120 miles)

Enter Arizona via the Hoover Dam, which harnesses the Colorado River to power much of three states; visit its museum. Continue to Kingman, gateway to historic Route 66. Suggested overnight: Blake Ranch RV Park.

Day 4 – Kingman › Route 66 › Grand Canyon (≈ 150 miles)

Drive the longest remaining stretch of Route 66, from Kingman to Ash Fork, then head north from Williams to the Grand Canyon. Suggested overnight: Trailer Village RV Park, the only campground inside the park with hookups. Watch the sunset and come back at sunrise.

Days 5–6 – Grand Canyon › Sedona › Phoenix (≈ 270 miles)

About four hours south on Interstate 17, from pine forests to giant cacti. Stop in Sedona and at Montezuma Castle, one of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in America. Two nights at Eagle View RV Resort, east of Scottsdale.

Day 7 – Phoenix › Blythe (≈ 175 miles)

A relaxed stop by the Colorado River, back on the California line. Suggested overnight: Riviera RV Resort. Visit the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.

Day 8 – Blythe › Joshua Tree › Palm Desert (≈ 155 miles)

Visit Joshua Tree National Park or the Salton Sea on the way to Palm Desert, next to Palm Springs. Suggested overnight: Emerald Desert RV Resort, with a 9-hole golf course.

Day 9 – Palm Desert › San Diego (≈ 140 miles)

Time for the Pacific. Take the scenic road through the San Bernardino and Cleveland national forests, or the interstate straight to the beach. Suggested overnight: Campland on the Bay. Visit the Palomar Observatory.

Day 10 – Motorhome return in Los Angeles (≈ 110 miles)

Allow about two hours to drive back, especially at rush hour, and return the motorhome to Cruise America Los Angeles between 9:00 and 11:00 AM.
